The partnership between Melco International Development, from Hong Kong, and the Australian Publishing & Broadcasting, has hired four banks to finance a submarine casino resort in Macao.
Melco PBL Entertainment is building the casino resort, which is due to open in the second semester of 2008. The complex will be built on 19.93 hectare of land in Cotai. The project includes a 40,000-m2 casino with over 450 table games and over 3,000 slots.
Gambling income in Macao almost reached U$S 5,900 million last year, according to Macao’s Gambling Inspection and the Bureau of Coordination. Profits in Las Vegas Strip reached U$S 5,920 million in 2005, according to the Board of Control in Nevada Games.
Besides the City of Dreams, other important gambling businesses in the market are Crown Macau and Mocha Slot. The Crown Macau has 32 floors and will be the first six-star hotel in the province; it will open during the first semester of 2007.
