Missouri´s 11 casinos logged a 9% gain
Most of the casino's revenue come from slot machine winnings
A big jump in patronage translated into higher revenue last month at Terrible's Mark Twain Casino.

Figures released by the Missouri Gaming Commission show the LaGrange casino logged 51,325 patrons in January, a 43 percent gain from a year ago.

The patronage jump helped boost the casino's monthly revenue, which rose to $2,801,825, a 31 percent increase from January 2005. That revenue total was the fourth-best in the 55 months since the casino started operating in July 2001.

As usual, most of the casino's revenue — $2.54 million, or nearly 91 percent — came from slot machine winnings. Table game revenue amounted to $254,426, or about 9 percent of the total.

Slot machine revenue was up 39 percent from a year ago. The casino's slot machine "hold" in January was 8.61 percent. This means the casino kept 8.61 percent of the $29.5 million wagered in its machines. A year ago, the casino's hold percentage was 7.7 percent.

Mark Twain's hold percentage last month was the second-highest among Missouri's 11 casinos. It was surpassed only by Casino Aztar in Caruthersville (10.4 percent). The state average was 8 percent.

Mark Twain's table game revenue was down 18 percent from a year ago.

Total winnings from table games and slot machines translated into an average of $54.59 from each patron. The state average was $63.50.

Statewide, Missouri's 11 casinos logged $135 million in gaming revenue in January. That's a 9 percent gain from a year ago.
