| New breed of slot machine hits New Mexico |
| #SUBTITLE# |
A new breed of electronic gambling machines is hitting New Mexico.
They could escape state revenue-sharing requirements and let tribal casinos keep all of the take.
San Juan Pueblo is bringing 26 of the bingo-based machines to the tribe's casino north of Espanola.
The chief executive officer of the company that operates the casino, Ron Lovato, says the new machines will be up and running later this month.
He says saving money on revenue sharing played no role in the tribe's decision to bring in the Class Two machines.
The federally designated Class Two machines look like slot machines and play somewhat like them.
But unlike their Class Three slot-machine cousins, they aren't covered under the gambling compacts between tribes and the state.
